What a wrap is, and what it is not
A vehicle wrap is a cast vinyl film applied over the painted panels. It changes the color or the finish — gloss, satin, matte, or textured — without repainting, and it can be removed later. Wraps are used for full color changes as well as accent stripes, roofs, mirrors, and trim.
A wrap is not a repair. It follows the surface under it, so chips, dents, and peeling clear coat show through and can shorten the film's life. That is why the shop looks at panel condition before talking about finish, and why a damaged panel is assessed as body work first.
